During the 1970's and 80's, the Japanese were the big buyers of Meissen porcelain especially the 19th century.

During the August the Strong era, Chinese porcelain was considered 'white gold. It was only after Augsutus the Strong Elector of Saxony began showing off his collection to the European aristocracy that Meissen was considered as valuable as the Chinese porcelain and that of gold.

During the 18th century the museum's of the time were the homes of the rich and famous who would open their doors to the public Any collection seen by the public was necessary to include Meisen porcelain. Every weekend when the palatial homes opened their doors the surrounding hotels would get chocked up with customers queing up to get a glimpse of the lives of the aristocracy.

Today, a visit to the many major collections in Europe and America will be displayed much Chinese design especially present on eighteenth century Meissen domestic wares but, also seen on a variety of porcelain models of figures and groups.

Therefore, it is not surprising the Chinese are now taking an interest in buying all Meissen that is of a Chinese design.
