My day started later than I expected arriving at my shop in Portobello Road a little after 8.30, just in time to tell the parking warden to allow me a few minutes to load. It was raining and with little sleep the night before I didnt fancy my normal leaving the car two miles away and cycling in. Fortunately today I found a meter only one minute away, in fact I couldnt have parked much closer. I had arranged for a haircut at 12.30 in hampstead just a mere 118 miles from my home in Bournemouth but a few miles from my shop. Closing at 11.30 I was welcomed by sunshine and Gloria gave me a great haircut. With the sun still shinning and hardly a cloud in the sky, I decided to walk upto Fenton House near Whitestone Pond. Home to some great Meissen porcelain, in one display cabinet built into a recess in the wall is rich in Comedia dell arte with a very rare example of the Scowling Harlequin, circa 1738 and other fine Kaendler figures and groups accompanied by good descriptions written by the European Porcelain specialist Anton.Gabszewicz. As well as the collection of Meissen there is some outstanding pieces of British porcelain and Chinese Blue and white from the Kang Hsi Dynasty Fenton House Windmill Hill, Hampstead, London NW3 6RT Telephone: 020 7435 3471
