Buying Meissen on Ebay Advice and Warning

| Some of my surfing time is spent looking at other websites, helping my customers and advising them of whether a piece of Meissen being offered for sale is genuine or not. Ebay can be a great market place to buy. However caveat empor 'buyer be aware'. Even if the advert assures you that it is Meissen it is important to ask the opion of a non judgemental specialist even if it may cost you a small sum of money whether the piece is genuine or not. Treat this as a blessing in disguise.
Today I went onto Ebay I saw a pair of vases being advertised as Meissen Pate sur Pate. The items concerned are Meissen copies, they never started off life as Meissen, furthermore it is very possible they are of very recent manufacture. Yet, they are being offered together with an Ebay seal of Approval 'Buy with Confidence'. This in my opinion is the fraudent use of using the Ebay Seal of Approval as a means to making we a sale. |
