When the Marquiss of Bath sold some of his collection of animals and birds at Christies in 2002, the highest price paid was just under one million pounds. Earlier this year, Christies sold a pair of Meissen birds in Paris for the equivalent of £3.8 million. The pair of Lions are expected to fetch between three and five million pounds.
